“They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out.”

Before you ask

Questions people ask

Was spray foam supposed to stop our tiles blowing off?

That was often how it was sold, especially on exposed roofs. It does not deal with whatever was loosening the tiles, and lenders now treat it as a problem. Once it is out we can show you the true state of the tiles and fixings.

Our Crowland sale has stalled because of spray foam. What now?

Ring us and tell us the date you are working to. Many lenders will not lend until the foam is removed, so getting it out, photographed and confirmed in writing is usually what gets the survey moving again.

What if the timbers under the foam are damaged?

Nobody can know until the foam is off. We check the timbers for damp and rot as we uncover them and photograph what we find, good or bad. Anything that needs work is priced separately, in writing.

What will we be able to show our lender?

Photographs of the loft before and after, and the finished job confirmed in writing. Whether the lender is then satisfied is their surveyor's decision, but they will be looking at a roof they can actually see.

Ready when you are

It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.

More about spray foam removal in Crowland

Spray foam was often sold as a way to hold tiles in place and stop draughts, and on a windy fen roof it is easy to see why the pitch appealed. The trouble tends to arrive years later, when the house is sold or remortgaged. Many UK mortgage lenders will not lend on a home with spray foam in the roof until it has been removed, and a Crowland sale can stall on a loft nobody has looked in for years.

Why surveyors flag it

Foam stuck to the underside of a roof hides the rafters, the felt and the timbers, so nobody can tell what state they are in. It can also hold moisture against the timber and stop the roof space breathing. A surveyor who cannot see the structure cannot pass it, so the report usually says the same thing: remove the foam, then we will look again.

How we take it out

  • The foam is stripped by hand from the rafters, felt and timbers
  • Timbers are checked for damp and rot as they are uncovered
  • Everything is photographed as the work goes on
  • The finished job is confirmed in writing

That leaves you with a clear record to hand to a buyer, a surveyor or your lender.

If the foam was holding tiles on

On an exposed roof this is usually the first question. Once the foam is off, any tiles that have slipped, and any battens or felt that need attention, are photographed and shown to you. Any repair is priced separately in writing before it is done, so you decide with the facts in front of you.

Free look, written price

Ring 01733 855167 or send the form and we will call you back. We look in the loft, explain what removal involves and give you a price in writing. The price quoted is the price paid. If a sale or remortgage date is already fixed, tell us when you ring.
