Roofing in Oakham
EverCrest Property Care Ltd covers Oakham and the villages around it. Tell us what needs doing and we will come and look at it.
Oakham is the county town of Rutland, which is a small county with a lot of good stone in it. We cover the town and the LE15 villages around Rutland Water, and the roofs here have more in common with Stamford than with the fen we came from.
Ironstone, slate and a lot of weather off the water
Oakham and the villages round about are built largely of local ironstone and limestone, roofed in stone slate, clay pantile and Welsh slate, with modern estates on the edges of town carrying concrete interlocking tile. Rutland Water gives the open ground around it a wind that finds anything loose, so ridges, verges and the tiles along an exposed gable tend to be first to go. Where mortar has cracked and washed out, a mechanically fixed dry ridge or dry verge ends the cycle rather than restarting it.
What we take on here
Repairs of every size and leak tracing back to the real source. Chimneys repaired and rebuilt, and re-leaded properly with soakers, step flashing, apron and back gutter. Full re-roofs. Flat roofs over extensions, garages and dormers in EPDM rubber or torch-on felt. Fascias, soffits and guttering. Moss removal and roof inspections. And the two specialist removals, spray foam and blown cavity wall insulation, which cause a lot of trouble at survey time and which many roofers will not touch. On older stone properties, particularly anything listed, tell us what the building is and we will tell you honestly whether it is our job or one for a heritage stone slater.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.
Brilliant work! Reasonable price a friendly. Recommend to anyone. Sorted out my roof after 3 companies turned me down.
Amazing roof repair everything finished to a high standard, good communication and reasonable priced would definetly recommend.

Roofing in Oakham: your questions
Do you cover Rutland, or just Oakham itself?
The whole of LE15, so Uppingham, the Rutland Water villages and the rest are covered the same as the town.
My cottage is stone with a stone slate roof. Is that your work?
Some of it will be, some of it wants a heritage stone slater, and we will tell you which rather than take on the wrong job. Ordinary repairs, leadwork, guttering and flat roofs on an older property are all straightforwardly ours.
The ridge tiles keep coming loose. Why?
Mortar cracks, water gets behind it, frost does the rest, and exposed ground near Rutland Water speeds all of that up. Re-bedding restarts the clock; a mechanically fixed dry ridge stops it, because there is nothing up there to wash out.
What does a quote cost?
Nothing. The visit, the photographs and the written quote are all free, and there is no pressure attached to any of them. The price on the quote is the price you pay.
