Roofing in Scunthorpe
EverCrest Property Care Ltd covers Scunthorpe and the villages around it. Tell us what needs doing and we will come and look at it.
Scunthorpe is a town built quickly and largely at once, and its roofs are reaching the end of their lives on much the same timetable. We cover DN15, DN16 and DN17, the estates and the older streets alike.
Whole streets ageing together
Much of the housing here went up between the 1930s and the 1970s for people working at the steelworks, in large estates of the same design built at the same time. That has an effect you do not get in a town that grew slowly: the concrete interlocking tiles, the ridge mortar, the felt at the eaves and the fascias and soffits all reach the end together, street by street. Concrete tile of that age goes porous and starts shedding its surface, and once it does the roof gains weight and the tiles lose their shape. If three houses on your road have had work in the last couple of years, that is not a coincidence and it is worth having yours looked at.
What we take on here
- Concrete tiles replaced or matched where they have started breaking down
- Ridge and verge re-bedded, or fixed mechanically as a dry system
- Fascias, soffits and guttering renewed, usually as one job rather than piecemeal
- Redundant chimney stacks repointed, rebuilt or taken down and made good
- Flat roofs on garages and extensions, and full re-roofs
How a Scunthorpe job runs
Ring 01406 704369 or send the form and we call back to arrange a look. We photograph the roof and go through it with you, and we will say plainly whether yours needs doing now or has a few years left, because on an estate where everything ages together that is the question worth answering honestly. Free written quote, the price quoted is the price paid, insured throughout, and guaranteed for five years at minimum.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.

Roofing in Scunthorpe: your questions
Half my street has had new roofs. Do I need one?
Possibly, and possibly not for a few years yet. Houses built together do age together, but they are not identical: exposure, past repairs and which way the roof faces all change it. That is exactly what the free look is for.
The tiles look rough and are shedding grit. Is that serious?
It is worth acting on. Concrete tiles going porous absorb water, gain weight and lose their profile, and once that starts it does not reverse. Caught early you have options; left long enough there is only one.
Our chimney is not used any more. Can it just go?
Often, yes, and it removes a long-term maintenance problem. It can also be repointed or rebuilt if you would rather keep the look of the street. We will price whichever you want and explain what each involves.
Do you cover the villages around Scunthorpe?
Yes, DN15, DN16 and DN17, so the town and the area around it.
