Roofing in Grimsby
EverCrest Property Care Ltd covers Grimsby and the villages around it. Tell us what needs doing and we will come and look at it.
Grimsby roofs work harder than inland ones and wear out faster, and it is not really about rain. It is the salt. We cover the town and the DN postcodes around it, out towards Cleethorpes and the villages behind.
What salt air does up top
Wind off the Humber carries salt inland, and salt goes after the metal on a roof long before it troubles the tiles. Nails and clips corrode, so slates slip while the slates themselves are still perfectly sound. Gutter brackets, screws and fixings rust through. Lead lasts, but the steel holding everything else down does not, and a roof can look fine from the pavement while the things fixing it to the house are quietly failing. Add the wind itself, which comes off open water with nothing in the way, and the edges take the punishment: ridges, verges and gable ends first.
What we take on here
- Slipped slates re-fixed, and corroded nails and clips replaced rather than reused
- Ridge and verge secured, or converted to a mechanically fixed dry system
- Storm damage made safe, day or night
- Guttering, brackets, fascias and soffits renewed where corrosion has taken them
- Chimney repointing, flashing, flat roofs and full re-roofs

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.
Brilliant work! Reasonable price a friendly. Recommend to anyone. Sorted out my roof after 3 companies turned me down.
Amazing roof repair everything finished to a high standard, good communication and reasonable priced would definetly recommend.

Roofing in Grimsby: your questions
My slates keep slipping but they look fine. Why?
Almost always the nails rather than the slates. Salt air corrodes the fixings and the slate simply loses its grip. Re-fixing with the right materials solves it; putting the same slate back on the same nail does not.
Do you cover Cleethorpes and the villages too?
Yes, the DN area around Grimsby as well as the town itself.
Is it worth doing anything about the gutters if they are only rusty?
It usually is, because rusted brackets let go in wind and take a length of gutter with them, and overflowing gutters soak the wall below. It is a small job compared with what follows it.
You're a long way from Grimsby. Is that a problem?
Grimsby is one of the areas we cover and is quoted and booked like anywhere else. If we cannot do something properly from where we are, we would rather tell you at the quote than take the job and let you find out.
