Roofing in Boston
EverCrest Property Care Ltd covers Boston and the villages around it. Tell us what needs doing and we will come and look at it.
Boston is one of the few towns on this list where you can go and look at our work rather than take our word for it. The Stump is visible for miles across the fen, and so is the weather coming at it, which is a large part of why roofs round here need what they need.
Roofs we have finished in and around Boston
At Wyberton we stripped a slate roof off the main roof and the lower elevation and rebuilt it in Redland 49 concrete tile, took down one of the two chimney stacks and roofed over the opening, re-leaded the other, and fitted new fascias, soffits and a deep flow guttering system. At Swineshead we took the clay pantiles off a brick cottage, rebuilt the roof on new rafters and finished it in Redland 49 with new lead valleys. Both jobs are photographed start to finish on our work pages, before, during and after.
What the fen does to a roof
There is nothing between Boston and the North Sea to slow the wind down. It works at ridge and hip mortar until it cracks and washes out, lifts the verges on gable ends, and finds any pantile that has started to sit proud of its neighbour. The Georgian and Victorian brick in the town centre carries a lot of old pantile and slate; the estates on the edges carry concrete tile that is now coming up on the age where the felt underneath matters. Mechanically fixed dry ridge and dry verge systems solve the mortar problem permanently, and we fit a lot of them for exactly that reason.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.
Brilliant work! Reasonable price a friendly. Recommend to anyone. Sorted out my roof after 3 companies turned me down.
Amazing roof repair everything finished to a high standard, good communication and reasonable priced would definetly recommend.

Roofing in Boston: your questions
Have you actually worked in Boston?
Yes, and you can see it. There is a full re-roof at Wyberton and a rebuilt pantile roof at Swineshead on our work pages, both photographed from the old roof through to the finished one.
Why does ridge mortar keep failing on my roof?
Because mortar is doing a job the fen wind is determined to undo. Once it cracks, water gets behind it and frost finishes it. A dry ridge system is fixed down mechanically instead, so there is nothing up there to crack and wash out.
Do you cover the villages as well as the town?
We do, PE21 in the town and PE22 around it. Wyberton and Swineshead are both village jobs, so being outside Boston itself is no bar at all.
Can you match the pantiles on an older Boston property?
Usually. Where a tile has been discontinued we have sourced matched replacements from salvage before now, because a repair that shouts is not really a repair. We would rather find the right tile than fit the nearest one.
