Dry ridge and dry verge in Spalding
Mortar-free ridge and verge systems, mechanically fixed, so there is no mortar left to crack and wash out.
If you keep finding crumbs of mortar in the gutter, your ridge is telling you something. Traditional ridge and verge tiles are bedded on mortar, and mortar cracks, loosens and washes out over the years. A dry ridge and dry verge system does away with it altogether: every tile is mechanically fixed, so there is nothing left to crack and nothing to wash away.
The end of repointing
Once a ridge is dry-fixed, the cycle of repointing it every few years stops, because there is no mortar bed to fail. That is the whole point of the system, and it is why we fitted dry ridge and hips as standard on our own photographed re-roof, alongside the new membrane, battens and lead work. This is how we build roofs anyway, not an extra we bolt on.
Made for the estates around Spalding
The interwar and postwar bungalow estates that cover so much of Spalding were built with mortared ridges and verges, and decades of Lincolnshire weather have not been kind to them. If the roof covering itself is still sound, we can fit a dry ridge and dry verge system to it without re-roofing, which deals with the weakest part of the roof while leaving the rest alone.
Explained before it is sold
When we installed a dry ridge and dry verge system for one customer, we took the time to explain the benefits properly before the work started, and that is how we prefer to do it: you should understand what you are buying and why before you agree to anything. We come out, look at your ridge and verges, photograph what we find and show you. If the mortar has years left in it, we will say so.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.
Brilliant work! Reasonable price a friendly. Recommend to anyone. Sorted out my roof after 3 companies turned me down.
Amazing roof repair everything finished to a high standard, good communication and reasonable priced would definetly recommend.

Dry Ridge & Dry Verge in Spalding: common questions
What does a dry ridge system cost to fit in Spalding?
It depends on the length of ridge, hips and verge on your particular roof, so we price it from a proper look rather than a guess. The visit is free, the quote is in writing, and the written price is exactly what you pay at the end.
Is dry verge installation worth doing on an older roof?
If the roof covering is sound, often yes. Fitting a dry verge deals with the mortar edges, which are usually the first part of an older roof to fail, without the cost of re-roofing. We will look first and tell you honestly whether yours would benefit or whether the mortar still has life in it.
If there is no mortar, what holds the ridge tiles on?
Mechanical fixings. Every ridge and verge tile in a dry system is physically fixed down rather than relying on a bed of mortar, and the installation is guaranteed for five or ten years depending on the work.
