Cavity wall insulation removal in Grantham

Failed or damp cavity fill drilled out and removed, so the cavity can do its job again. Free quotes in writing.

  • Grantham, Lincolnshire

Cavity wall insulation was sold as fit and forget. When the fill was badly installed, or has got wet over the years, it can slump and bridge the cavity, and the wall starts carrying moisture to the inside: damp patches and cold spots in rooms that never had them before. We cover Grantham and the villages around it, NG31 to NG33, for cavity wall insulation removal.

The houses it affects around Grantham

Grantham's housing runs from Victorian terraces and stone-built older properties through the interwar and postwar years to the big modern estates, and it is homes from that middle stretch, the cavity wall era, where filled cavities are most often found. With houses here selling and remortgaging all the time, the problem tends to surface on a survey: the surveyor notes the damp, and the question of what is in the cavity follows straight behind.

What removal involves

Removal means extracting the material from the cavity: drilling out and removing the fill until the cavity is clear and can do its job again. Once the fill is out, the cause of the bridging has gone. We photograph what comes out and what we find along the way, so you can see it for yourself rather than take our word for it.

A free look and a price that does not move

Ring 01406 704369, and if nobody answers we are on a roof, so leave a message and we will call you back. We come and look at the walls, photograph what we find, and tell you in plain words whether the insulation looks like the cause and what taking it out would involve. The quote is free and in writing, the price quoted is the price paid, and the work is guaranteed for five or ten years depending on the work, with public liability and employer's liability insurance on the job. If a sale or a remortgage in Grantham is waiting on the answer, say so when you ring: you will get straight answers, photographs of what was found and everything in writing.

What people say

In their words, not ours

One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.

Cavity Wall Insulation Removal in Grantham: common questions

My Grantham house has damp patches since the cavity was filled. Is the insulation to blame?

It can be. Fill that was badly installed or has got wet can slump and bridge the cavity, carrying moisture through to the inside wall. We come and look for free, photograph what we find and tell you plainly whether removal is the answer or the damp has another cause.

What does cavity wall insulation removal cost in Grantham?

It depends on the size of the house, the type of fill and the state it is in, so an honest figure needs a look first. The look costs nothing, the price arrives in writing, and the figure we quote is the figure you pay.

Will clearing the cavity help my house sale in Grantham?

We cannot speak for any buyer or lender. What we can say is that removal deals with the cause of the bridged cavity, and you will have photographs and a written record of what was found and what was done, so nobody has to guess at what is in your walls.

How disruptive is the removal work on a Grantham home?

The fill is extracted from the cavity by drilling out and removing the material, and we explain at the quote exactly what that means for your particular walls before you decide anything. No work starts until you have the price in writing.
