Roof repairs in Market Deeping

Tile, slate and lead repairs matched to the building, photographed as we go and quoted free in writing before anything is booked in.

  • Market Deeping, Lincolnshire

The Deepings sit on the edge of the limestone belt, and that shows up on the roofs. Stone buildings with clay pantile or slate on top, older properties around the market place and St Guthlac's, and modern estate housing along the river towards Deeping St James, all in a couple of square miles. A repair that suits one of them can look badly wrong on another.

Matching matters more here than most places

On a stone building a mismatched tile is not a small aesthetic problem, it is the thing everyone sees from the road for the next thirty years. We repair with materials matched to what is already up there, and we will hunt a salvage match for a discontinued tile rather than finish a job that stands out. Where a roof genuinely wants a heritage stone slater rather than a roofer, we say so and step back. Taking on the wrong job is not a favour to anyone.

The repairs we are called out for most

  • Slipped and cracked tiles and slates, matched and re-set
  • Valleys cleared, relined and made watertight
  • Lead flashing renewed at chimneys and abutments
  • Leaks traced properly, which often means the source is nowhere near the stain
  • Ridge and verge re-bedded, or converted to a dry fixed system

Photographs, then a price that does not move

You get pictures of your own roof and a plain explanation of what needs doing now against what can wait. The quote is free and in writing, and the price on it is the price you pay. Work is guaranteed for five or ten years depending on the job, and insured throughout.

What people say

In their words, not ours

One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.

Roof Repairs in Market Deeping: common questions

Our house is stone and quite old. Will you work on it?

Ordinary repairs, leadwork, chimneys, valleys and guttering on a stone property are all normal work for us. If the roof needs a heritage stone slater we will tell you that instead of taking the job on.

Why does my roof leak in one place and the damp shows in another?

Because water runs along battens and rafters before it drops. Tracing a leak to its actual source rather than fixing above the stain is most of the skill in a repair, and it is why we look properly instead of guessing.

Do you cover West Deeping and Deeping St James?

Yes, the whole of PE6 across the Deepings and the villages around them.

What does a repair cost?

We will not name a figure for a roof we have not seen. The visit, the photographs and the written quote are free and carry no obligation.
