Re-roofing and new roofs in Bourne
A full re-roof only when the roof has genuinely reached the end, stripped back to the rafters and rebuilt with a breathable membrane, treated battens and your choice of covering.
A re-roof is the biggest thing most houses ever have done to them, and it is the job where an honest opinion is worth most. Plenty of roofs in Bourne that get quoted for a full replacement need a proper repair and another fifteen years of watching. We will tell you which yours is, and we would rather lose the bigger job than sell you one you do not need.
When a roof has actually had enough
- Repairs coming round again every winter in a different spot
- Tiles delaminating or crumbling at the edges across the whole slope, not in patches
- Felt perished at the eaves so water runs behind the gutter
- Battens gone soft, which is what makes tiles slip no matter how often they are re-set
- A roof line visibly dipping between the rafters
What we build back
The old covering comes off to the rafters and goes in the skip, and then the roof is rebuilt properly: a breathable membrane, treated battens, and the covering you have chosen, set out from the eaves so the courses land right at the ridge. Ridge and verge go on as a dry system fixed mechanically rather than bedded in mortar, so there is nothing up there for frost to work loose in five years. Around the Abbey and the conservation streets the covering has to suit the building, and on the newer estates it usually has to satisfy a deed of covenant, so we go through the options with you before anything is ordered.
You will know what is happening and when
Once the quote is agreed you are told when the scaffolding goes up, when the skip and the materials land, and when we start. That is the part customers mention most often, and it costs nothing to do properly. The price quoted is the price paid, the work is insured throughout, and a new roof from us carries a ten year guarantee.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.
Brilliant work! Reasonable price a friendly. Recommend to anyone. Sorted out my roof after 3 companies turned me down.
Amazing roof repair everything finished to a high standard, good communication and reasonable priced would definetly recommend.

Re-Roofing & New Roofs in Bourne: common questions
How long does a re-roof in Bourne take?
A typical house is a matter of days rather than weeks, but it depends on the size, the pitch and the weather. You will get a realistic answer at the quote, not an optimistic one.
Do I need to move out?
No. The work happens outside and above you. It is noisy while the old covering comes off, and we will tell you which days those are so you can plan around them.
Are you sure my roof needs replacing?
That is exactly what the free survey is for. If a repair is the right answer we will say so and quote for the repair instead. You will see photographs of the roof either way and can judge for yourself.
Will a new roof need planning permission?
A like-for-like replacement normally does not, but a listed building or a conservation area changes that, and Bourne has both. We will flag it at the quote if your property is affected.
