Fascias, soffits and gutters do a quiet but vital job. They close off the roof edge, keep weather and birds out of the loft, and carry every drop of rain that lands on the roof safely away from your walls. When they rot, sag or leak, the water finds somewhere else to go, usually somewhere expensive. We replace and clear them across Lincolnshire, downpipes included.
The boards along the roof edge that carry your gutters. When they soften or rot, gutters pull loose and the roof edge is left open. We replace them and refix the roofline properly.
The boards underneath the overhang. We renew tired soffits at the same time as fascias, closing the roof edge off neatly against damp and nesting birds.
Gutters replaced where they are past saving, cleared and realigned where they are not, with downpipes renewed as part of the job so the whole run actually drains. A sagging run is refixed to fall towards the outlet, and everything the wind and the birds have left in there comes out.
New guttering and downpipes are part of how we finish a full re-roof, so the same standard applies when we come just for the roofline: a straight, properly falled run that sends water where it belongs.

One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.

Common questions
Checkatrade's guide, updated December 2025, puts replacing fascias and soffits at about £150 per linear metre, new guttering at around £45 per metre, and the whole roofline on a small semi at an average of £2,750 including labour and waste. Scaffolding can be as much as a third of the total, so the length of your roofline and how many sides need a scaffold set the price more than the boards do.

We replace them. Cladding over rotten boards seals the rot in, so we take the old boards off and fit new, leaving a roofline that is sound underneath as well as tidy on top.
Yes. Not every gutter needs replacing, and if yours just need clearing and realigning we are happy to do exactly that, downpipes checked at the same time.
It comes down to the length of the runs, the height of the house and what the fascias behind are like, so we quote after looking, free, and the written figure is the final one.
Always considered, yes. A new gutter draining into a blocked or broken downpipe solves nothing, so downpipes are part of how we quote and part of how we finish.
Sagging gutters, flaking paint and soft spots you can press a thumb into are the usual giveaways. We photograph the roofline during the inspection so you can see the condition for yourself.
