“They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out.”
Before you ask
Questions people ask
What does dry ridge cost in Wisbech?
It depends on the length of ridge and hip, the tiles and the access, so each roof is priced on its own. The visit and written quote are free, and the quote is what you pay.
What is dry verge?
Interlocking caps fixed along the gable edges over the tile ends. They do what the mortar used to do, without cracking, and they keep wind and birds out from under the edge tiles.
Will dry ridge suit an older house?
The systems come in colours to sit with common tiles, and we show you what we would use before ordering. On an older roof we talk the look through at the quote.
Ready when you are
It takes about 30 seconds to ask, and you are not committing to anything.
More about dry ridge & dry verge in Wisbech
On a flat fen horizon the ridge is the first thing the wind hits, and bedded mortar does not enjoy the attention. It cracks, loosens, streaks down the tiles and eventually lets a ridge tile go in a gale. If the ridge on your Wisbech roof gets repointed every few years, the mortar is the problem, not the repair.
Why mortar keeps cracking
A roof moves: timbers flex, tiles expand and shrink, and the wind rocks the ridge. Mortar is rigid, so it cracks rather than moving with it. Once cracked it soaks up water, frost opens it further, and the cycle starts again.
Screwed and clamped instead
A dry ridge system holds each ridge tile down with screws and clamps, with weatherproof unions between the tiles and no mortar anywhere. Dry verge caps the gable ends in the same way, so wind and birds cannot get under the edge tiles. The whole detail moves with the roof instead of fighting it. We fitted dry-fix ridge and hips on our own photographed re-roof, and it is what we would choose for an exposed roof like those around Wisbech.
Explained first
When a customer asked us about dry ridge and dry verge, we explained what the system does and why before fitting it, and that is how every job goes: the reasoning, then photographs of your roof as it is, then a price in writing.
