Roofing in Sutton Bridge
EverCrest Property Care Ltd covers Sutton Bridge and the villages around it. Tell us what needs doing and we will come and look at it.
No roof on our patch works harder than one in Sutton Bridge. The town stands on the tidal Nene beside the Cross Keys swing bridge, close enough to the Wash that the wind arrives with salt in it and very little stands in the way to slow it down.
What the Wash does to a roof
Exposure like this shows. Ridge mortar cracks and washes out sooner here than it does inland, slipped tiles turn up after weather that other towns shrug off, and wind-driven rain finds gaps a gentle shower would never reach. It is one reason we rate dry ridge and dry verge systems for Sutton Bridge homes: they are mechanically fixed, so there is no mortar for the salt air and the gales to pick apart. Where lead flashing has lifted or fatigued, we renew it properly rather than dress it back down and hope, because on this stretch of coast a hopeful repair gets found out by the next big blow.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.

Roofing in Sutton Bridge: your questions
Does the salt air at Sutton Bridge really wear a roof out faster?
The wind off the Wash makes a difference, yes. Ridge mortar and exposed fittings take more punishment here than they would inland, which is why mechanically fixed dry ridge and dry verge systems suit the town so well: there is no mortar to fail.
What do you charge to come and look at a roof in Sutton Bridge?
Nothing. The visit, the photographs and the quote are free, and the quote arrives in writing. You only ever pay the figure on it, and only if you decide to go ahead.
A gale has just lifted tiles on my Sutton Bridge roof. How urgent is it?
Treat it as urgent, because wind-driven rain will use any opening it is given. Ring 01406 704369, day or night, and we will get the damage made safe and then quote for the proper repair.
