Re-roofing and new roofs in Gedney
Full re-roofs and new roofs, tiled and slate, built to hold their own in the fen wind. Free quotes in writing, and the price quoted is the price paid.
The church at Gedney has stood over the fen for centuries, which is a high bar for any roof. Yours does not need to last that long, but when repairs stop adding up and the whole covering is tired, a full re-roof is the honest answer. We fit full re-roofs and new roofs, tiled and slate, across the parish, and we think a roof should be done once and done right.
What actually goes on the roof
Stripping the old covering back is the chance to get every layer right. On our photographed re-roof we used Proctor Air breathable membrane, treated battens, anthracite interlocking tiles, dry-fix ridge and hips, new lead soakers, step flashing, apron and back gutter to the chimney, and new guttering and downpipes to finish. Those are the materials we put our name to.
Built for a fen wind
Out here the wind matters more than almost anything else. That is why we fix ridges and hips mechanically rather than bedding them in mortar: there is nothing to crack, wash out and drop into the gutter after a few hard winters. From the village out to Gedney Drove End, the exposed spots need a roof that is screwed and clipped down, not one relying on cement.
How a re-roof runs from first call to sign-off
You ring or send the form and we call you back. We come out, go over the roof, and photograph what we find so you can see the state of it yourself. We explain what it needs, and you get a price in writing. The price quoted is the price paid, and nobody will lean on you to go ahead.
Once you say yes, you are told when the scaffolding, the skip and the materials will arrive, so there are no surprises in the yard. On one of our full re-roofs an independent Building Control inspector from Boston Borough Council checked the job twice and signed it off. Every new roof we fit, whether on a farmhouse outside Gedney or a cottage in the village, is guaranteed for 25 years and covered by our public liability and employer's liability insurance.

What people say
In their words, not ours
One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.
Brilliant work! Reasonable price a friendly. Recommend to anyone. Sorted out my roof after 3 companies turned me down.
Amazing roof repair everything finished to a high standard, good communication and reasonable priced would definetly recommend.

Re-Roofing & New Roofs in Gedney: common questions
How much will a new roof in Gedney set me back?
It depends entirely on the roof: size, tiles, lead work, access. That is why we quote in writing after we have been up and looked, never off the back of a phone call. The quote is free, and the price quoted is the price paid.
Will a new roof stand up to the wind out here?
That is what it is built for. We fit dry-fix ridge and hips, mechanically fixed rather than bedded in mortar, so there is nothing to crack and wash out in the weather that comes across the fen.
Is your re-roofing work checked by anyone else?
It can be. On one full re-roof an independent Building Control inspector from Boston Borough Council checked the job twice and signed it off. Every re-roof also carries our 25 year guarantee.
What happens between accepting the quote and the work starting?
You are told when the scaffolding, the skip and the materials will arrive, so nothing turns up unannounced. Then we get on with the job.
