Re-roofing and new roofs in Pinchbeck

Full re-roofs and new roofs, tiled and slate, built properly from the membrane up and guaranteed in writing.

  • Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire

There comes a point where patching a tired roof is money down the drain, and an honest roofer says so. When a Pinchbeck roof reaches that point, we strip it back to the timbers and rebuild it properly, in tile or slate.

What goes into one of our re-roofs

On a recent full re-roof we used Proctor Air breathable membrane over treated battens, anthracite interlocking tiles, and dry-fix ridge and hips, so there is no ridge mortar to crack and wash out in years to come. The chimney got new lead soakers, step flashing, an apron and a back gutter, and the job was finished with new guttering and downpipes. That is the specification we build to, not a corner-cut version of it.

Checked by someone who does not work for us

On one of our full re-roofs, an independent Building Control inspector checked the work twice and signed it off. We photograph what we find and what we do, so you are never taking the state of your own roof on trust.

Old village houses and newer estates alike

Pinchbeck has both ends of the scale: village-core houses that have carried their roofs for generations, and estate houses whose original roofs are starting to show their age. A re-roof is also the natural moment to sort the details, dry verge along the gables, new lead around the chimney, gutters and downpipes renewed, so the whole roof starts again from year one.

How the job runs

You ring or send the form and we call you back. We look at the roof, photograph it, explain what it needs and put a price in writing. If you go ahead, you are told when the scaffolding, skip and materials will arrive, and the finished roof is guaranteed for 25 years, whether the house is in the middle of Pinchbeck or out on the edge of the village. No pressure at any point; a re-roof is a big decision and you make it in your own time.

What people say

In their words, not ours

One of the problems of finding a roofer when you are an older person is the thought of being scammed, especially given the increasing numbers of rogue traders together with the high costs at stake especially if the work is poor or non existent. We trawled a lot of roofers and found varying prices and limited experience and ‘one man bands’ offering little or no guarantees for their work. We came across Fred’s newly formed EverCrest Property Care Ltd Company and were initially concerned at the limited 3 months or so that they had been trading for, albeit that Fred had been a Sole Trader for some 6 years. So we undertook a ‘due diligence’ on the company and found they had worked on a limited number of roofing projects in the start up time. However having had a number of positive conversations with Fred we decided to give his company a chance having had a very good response and price to our required specification that formed the basis of our Building Control Application through Boston Borough Council. They say you can only make a first impression once and EverCrest Property Care Ltd certainly made an excellent impression indeed, in fact the work they undertook was first class and our Building Control Inspector was equally impressed with the standard of works they carried out. Our project involved replacing a main roof on a detached property and likewise on a kitchen extension. Work commenced on a Friday with the scaffolding being erected along with the delivery of two skips. On the Monday morning around 8:30am a team of 7 arrived on site and by 10am both roofs had been stripped and the Building Inspector was called early to check out the structure prior to the roofers installing the new insulation, membrane and battening in readiness for the new soffits, guttering and tiles being installed from Tuesday onwards. By Thursday the project had been completed and the Building Inspector returned first thing Friday morning and signed off the work having been impressed with the finished work. On the basis of the above experience we would have no hesitation in recommending EverCrest Property Care Ltd as a suitable and very experienced roofing contractor and would be happy to give any references to their standard of works.

Re-Roofing & New Roofs in Pinchbeck: common questions

What does a new roof cost in the UK right now?

Any figure given over the phone is a guess, and we do not guess. Size, tile choice, lead work and access all change the price, so we look first, free of charge, and give you a written quote. The number on the paper is the number you pay; our customers say so themselves.

My house was only built a few decades ago. Surely it does not need a re-roof yet?

Maybe not, and we will tell you if so. Roofs age at different rates depending on the tile and the exposure. We look, photograph what we find, and give you an honest answer; sometimes that answer is a small repair rather than a re-roof.

Will I know what is happening and when?

Yes. Once you accept the written quote we tell you when the scaffolding, skip and materials are arriving, so the job never just lands on you. That is not a promise we invented for this page; it is how one customer described their own job with us.

Do you use dry ridge on new roofs?

Yes, we fit dry-fix ridge and hips on our re-roofs, mechanically fixed with no mortar bed to crack. On gable ends we can fit dry verge too, which suits modern estate houses especially well.
